CF Foundation | Gene Transfer

Published on november 18, 2019 by

This video animation shows how gene transfer — a type of gene therapy — might one day be used to cure cystic fibrosis. This process would involve introducing a healthy CFTR gene into a person with CF in order to produce functional CFTR protein. Cystic fibrosis is caused by mutations in the CFTR gene that result in the production of a dysfunctional CFTR protein.
